Groningen, 26. April 2023 – The Soepel collective and Housewood announce the start of a new collaboration for the sale of thermally modified fraké panels. The product called Fraké Ecopanel is innovative, environmentally friendly and offers numerous advantages.
The Product
A Fraké Ecopanel is composed of spacer strips used for stacking wood. Previously, these strips were typically discarded. The panels have dimensions of 1.22×1.25 meters and belong to the same durability class as thermally modified Fraké. The product is approximately 50% cheaper per square meter compared to conventional panels.
The Production
The idea for the panels originated at Collectief Soepel. They looked out of the window of their studio in Arnhem and saw stacks of spacer strips growing. Planing the battens reveals the beauty of the wood once again. They have developed a form that turns highly variable residual material into a high-quality product.
Cooperation
Collectief Soepel will continue to handle the production of the panels, while Housewood will be responsible for (online) sales and distribution. “We complement each other perfectly,” says Tymen Boon from Housewood. “The Ecopanel is a perfect addition to our offerings.
