The advantages of Padouk wood

Very durable

  • Padouk is classified as durability class 1, meaning it lasts more than 25 years, even under extreme weather conditions.

  • Whether used for cladding exposed to the elements or flooring subjected to heavy foot traffic, Padouk proves its strength and reliability.

Easy to treat

  • Would you like to preserve the original color of the façade? Then selecting the right oil is essential. A good option is Bangkirai hardwood oil, for example from Wovar. This specific oil enhances the characteristic red color of the wood even further.

  • If you want to treat a Padouk table, it can easily be finished with an acid-curing clear lacquer. This helps maintain the intense color for a longer period.

Stable

  • This wood is exceptionally stable and easy to work with, and it does not warp.

  • It offers a calm grain pattern with few knots, making it ideal for a wide range of applications, both indoors and outdoors, such as façades, fencing, tables, flooring, and ceilings.

Vibrant color

  • The heartwood of Padouk features a distinctive bright orange-red color, sometimes tending toward wine red or purple.

Hard and heavy

  • Padouk is very hard and heavy, contributing to its robustness and long-lasting performance, even under heavy loads.

Weathering

  • The weathering process of Padouk results in an even silver-gray color.

  • No treatment is required for this — it is a beautiful natural process.

Disadvantages of Padouk

  • Availability: Padouk availability is limited.

  • Price: With an average price of €110 per m² excl. VAT, it is a relatively expensive choice.

  • Cleaning: Be cautious when cleaning, as the wood is sensitive to certain cleaning agents. It is advisable to seek proper guidance beforehand.
