What is Ayous wood?

Ayous wood comes from the Obeche tree, in West Africa. The wood is lightweight and can be easily processed. It is a popular choice for siding.

Untreated Ayous has a durability class of 5. After thermal treatment, the durability class of Ayous is 1 to 2 and the facade will last 25 years or even longer. With thermal modification, rough wooden boards are ‘baked’ in a low-oxygen oven. The high temperatures cause the moisture to evaporate from the boards. The wood is lighter, straighter, more stable and durable afterwards.
