• Thermally modified wood

Thermal modification involves treating wood with water and heat (steam). This treatment gives the softwood a longer lifespan and makes the planks dimensionally stable. Thermal modification of wood offers several advantages:

• Longer lifespan

The thermal modification ensures that the breeding ground for mold and insects is largely removed from the wood. This can extend the lifespan of the wood by years, sometimes even 25 to 30 years. This means you can enjoy facade cladding made of thermally modified wood for many years longer.

• Lightweight and dimensionally stable

The thermal modification of the wood makes it very stable. During the modification process, much of the water is evaporated from the wood, making the wood significantly lighter after treatment. In addition, the molecular level of the wood has been changed so that it hardly absorbs any moisture. The lower moisture level and the absorption of it mean that the wood is hardly deformed.

• Color

Thermal modification not only ensures higher quality and durability, but also gives the wood a warmer color. After treatment, the wood acquires a color between light brown and brown, depending on the type of wood. This warm coloring gives the wood a modern and luxurious appearance when used to clad a building.

• Environmentally friendly

The thermal modification of our wood is carried out using heat and water; unlike other treatments, no chemical agents are used.
