For this project, thermally modified Pine was chosen, finished in an S4S R3 profile. The 20×67 mm and 20×90 mm components used are coated in a semi-green finish, creating a contemporary and natural look. Thanks to the thermal modification, the wood is highly resistant to external influences, while remaining low-maintenance and dimensionally stable.
These 75 movable homes in Leiden are clad with Thermo Pine in fire resistance class B, offering a strong combination of aesthetic appeal, safety, and sustainability. The facades feature a clean S4S R3 profile with planks in 20×67 mm and 20×90 mm, creating a calm yet subtly varied facade.
The semi-green coating immediately gives the homes a uniform, natural appearance, ensuring that all units form a cohesive whole upon completion. Thanks to the thermal modification, the wood is lightweight, dimensionally stable, and highly resistant to moisture and weather conditions. This makes it particularly suitable for (relocatable) housing construction.
With a durability class of 1 to 2 and fire resistance class B, the material meets both the aesthetic and technical requirements of this project.
