Which wood species is right for your project?
Planning a façade or a wooden canopy and unsure about the right wood species? That makes perfect sense. Exterior wood should not only look good, but also be durable, weather-resistant and dimensionally stable. Choosing the right wood literally lays a solid foundation for your project and helps you avoid problems later on, like warped boards or unnecessary maintenance.
Wood for outdoor use: think durable, think weather-resistant
For exterior applications such as façades and canopies, thermally modified wood species are popular because of their durability and stability. Ayous and Lunawood are well-known choices thanks to their clean appearance, light weight and minimal movement. But there are plenty of alternatives worth considering.
Thermo Pine is a more affordable option with a warm colour and natural look, ideal if you are aiming for a more rustic character. Oak, on the other hand, is robust and timeless, but does require a bit more maintenance. Thermo Fraké offers a modern, knot-free appearance and excellent dimensional stability, making it perfect for sleek façades. Radiata Pine, also thermally modified, combines durability with a light colour tone and is easy to work with.
