Afrormosia wood
Afrormosia is a high-quality tropical hardwood from West Africa. The heartwood is golden brown to dark brown in color. The sapwood, the outer side of the trunk, is yellow-white in contrast. This gives it a unique character.

The characteristics of Afrormosia wood
Very durable wood
- The wood has a durability class of 1+, resulting in a lifespan of 25+ years.
- It is well resistant to insects, fungi, and weathering.
High-quality aesthetic.
- Golden brown to dark brown wood color with a luxurious appearance.
- Afrormosia weathers to silver gray. The graying takes longer than average and therefore occurs more evenly than with other hardwoods.
- Can be mounted horizontally and vertically.

- Warm, tropical appearance with a luxurious character.
- Minimal deformation.

- Easy to work with.
- Due to high moisture content (12%), the wood dries slowly.

Treatment
- Can be used untreated. Weathers to a beautiful even gray color.
- Various treatments available to maintain the brown color. Such as an exterior oil, which preserves the wood’s appearance. Treatment with a stain is also possible.
- Impregnation: An alternative method to prevent graying is pressure impregnation.
