Why choose Thermo Fraké?

Looking for something distinctive for your façade? Fraké wood is an excellent choice. You may also encounter it under names such as Limba, Limba Noir or Thermo Fraké. Sourced from Gabon, Fraké is naturally less durable, but after thermal modification it achieves durability class 1–2, making it perfectly suitable for exterior use.

We supply premium-quality Thermo Fraké that fits your project seamlessly, whether you’re building, renovating or creating something special.

Fraké is a popular choice for wooden façade cladding, valued for its durability, stability and striking appearance. The pronounced grain patterns give façades a richer, darker and more expressive look. Fraké is also harder than Ayous, which makes it heavier after treatment. We offer exclusively thermally modified Fraké with durability class 1, delivering a robust character with distinctive grain. It is also known as African Oak.

Built to last with Thermo Fraké

Thermo Fraké is thermally modified Fraké wood, making it ideal for façade cladding. We offer high-quality thermally modified Fraké products with an extended service life and minimal maintenance requirements.

In its natural state, Fraké has a durability class of 4, making it less suitable for exterior façades. Through thermal modification, it is upgraded to durability class 1, with a lifespan of 25 years or more. This process also significantly reduces the wood’s movement, resulting in improved stability.

Its warm, walnut-like colour and distinctive grain patterns make thermally modified Fraké perfect for characterful façade cladding. Over time, the wood weathers evenly to a beautiful grey tone. Choose high-quality, durable and aesthetic thermally modified Fraké for your façade.

Durable and aesthetic façade cladding

Fraké wooden façade cladding offers a beautiful natural appearance, defined by its warm colour and distinctive grain structure. We supply both horizontal and vertical Fraké cladding, depending on your design preferences and architectural requirements.

The wood is sustainably and environmentally treated. The thermal modification process uses no chemicals, reducing the need for additional wood preservatives and making Fraké an environmentally responsible choice.

Fraké is highly resistant to fungi and wood rot and offers insulating properties, making it well suited for (open) façade applications. As an alternative with a similar aesthetic, you may also consider Ayous for a more modern, knot-free look, or Red Cedar for a lighter appearance. With Fraké, you choose durable and aesthetically refined façade cladding.

Frequently Asked Questions

Fraké is a wood species sourced from the Millettia laurentii tree, also known as the Fraké tree. It is valued for its durability, stability and rich colour, and is widely used for façade cladding and other exterior applications thanks to its strong performance and aesthetic appeal.

Fraké wood naturally weathers over time under the influence of sunlight and weather conditions. The rate of greying may vary, but in general the wood gradually develops a silver-grey tone. This creates a beautifully aged appearance for façade cladding and requires no specific treatment.

Thermo Fraké is Fraké wood that has undergone thermal modification. By heating the wood under controlled conditions, its properties are significantly enhanced. Thermally modified Fraké offers improved durability, dimensional stability, and resistance to moisture, fungi and insects. This makes it an excellent choice for long-lasting façade cladding with minimal maintenance requirements.
