Type of wood | Iroko |
Description | Freshly cut heartwood is buttery yellow to brownish yellow in color, sometimes with dark brown zones that darken and turn from golden brown to dark brown. The lighter sapwood is 50 to 100 mm wide and can be clearly distinguished from the heartwood. Due to the occurrence of fiber deviations and reaction wood, deformations can be avoided, even after drying. Iroko bears a vague resemblance to teak in appearance. |
