Required Back Battens per m²

The amount of back batten needed depends on the direction of facade cladding installation. It’s crucial to ensure sufficient ventilation behind the facade and that the battens form a stable substructure.​

Horizontal Cladding Installation

For horizontal mounting, place back battens vertically with about 115 cm spacing between each batten.
As a practical guideline, use 2 linear meters (m1) of back batten per 1 m² of facade.
Example: 10 m² facade = approximately 20 m1 back battens.​

Vertical Cladding Installation

For vertical mounting, apply a double back structure with both horizontal and vertical battens. These cross-placed back battens create a ventilated cavity behind the cladding and ensure proper water drainage.
This guideline already accounts for the double back structure: 4 linear meters (m1) of back batten per 1 m² of facade.
Example: 10 m² facade → approximately 40 m1 back batten.
