The characteristics of Cumaru wood
Durability class 1
Cumaru is one of the hardest and most durable hardwood species in the world.
The wood is naturally resistant to moisture, fungi, rot, and wood-boring insects.
Thanks to its straight and dense grain structure, Cumaru has a long, low-maintenance lifespan and is highly suitable for a wide range of climates and applications, including marine environments.
High-end aesthetics
Cumaru has a warm reddish-brown to golden-brown color with a straight, fine grain. This gives the wood a luxurious and elegant appearance.
When exposed to sunlight, the color deepens, and when left untreated, the wood gradually weathers to a stylish silver-gray tone.
The wood is virtually free of knots and other defects, making it low-maintenance and visually appealing.
Also available: Finger-jointed Laminated Cumaru
Finger-jointed and laminated Cumaru consists of smaller pieces of Cumaru wood that are glued and laminated into a straight, stable beam. This construction reduces warping and cracking, making it highly suitable for structural applications such as decking, pergolas, stairs, and other outdoor projects.
Finger-jointed Cumaru is often used as substructure beams for decking or as load-bearing beams in heavy constructions, where both strength and durability are essential.

Treatment
When left untreated, Cumaru gradually weathers to a stylish silver-gray tone.
Various treatments are available to preserve its warm reddish-brown to golden-brown color, such as exterior oil, which maintains the wood’s natural appearance. The wood can also be treated with a stain.
Impregnation: An alternative method to prevent the wood from graying is pressure impregnation.
Regular cleaning and re-oiling extend the wood’s aesthetic lifespan and preserve its luxurious appearance for many years.
