Iroko wood
Iroko is a durable hardwood species originating from tropical West Africa. The wood has a warm, buttery yellow to rich brown color that gradually weathers to an attractive, even gray when used outdoors.

The characteristics of Iroko wood
Natural durability
- Durability class 1, resulting in a lifespan of 25+ years without treatment.
- Natural resistance to fungi and insects, minimizing maintenance costs.
Very stable
- Uniform texture, accentuated by darker streaks that add depth.
- When weathering, Iroko wood develops a beautiful, even gray color.
Luxe uitstraling
- Warm, tropical appearance with a luxurious character.
- Minimal distortion.
- Easy to work with and fasten.
Disadvantages
- Iroko can be somewhat unstable (there is a possibility of movement).
- Avoid long lengths or very narrow sections to reduce the risk of warping.

Treatment
- Can be used untreated. Weathers to a beautiful, even gray color.
- Various treatments are available to preserve the brown color, such as an exterior oil, which maintains the natural appearance of the wood. The grain remains visible and it is easy to apply. The wood can also be treated with a stain.
- Impregnation: An alternative method to prevent wood from graying is pressure impregnation.
