For this garden office in Zeeland, Thermo Ayous in the “Open Barcode” profile was chosen for the facade and roof cladding. By using the wood for both the facade and the roof and roof overhang, a clear and natural overall look is created. The Ayous wood is untreated, so over time it will naturally grey depending on weather conditions.
By alternating between different board widths of 70mm, 90mm, 115mm, and 140mm, an open barcode look has been created. These Thermo Ayous slats are mounted on our Spruce C Battens. Additionally, these are fastened with our Stainless Steel Facade Screws.
Thermo Ayous is a lightweight wood species that has become more durable and stable through a thermal modification process. This treatment makes the wood more resistant to moisture, mold, and insects, making it highly suitable for outdoor applications.
Tip: leaving the wood untreated keeps it virtually low-maintenance.
