What is Ayous wood?

Ayous wood comes from the Obeche tree in West Africa. It is lightweight and easy to machine, making it a popular choice for façade cladding and exterior applications.

Untreated Ayous has a durability class of 5. After thermal modification, its durability improves to class 1–2, providing a service life of approximately 25 years or more when used on façades. During thermal modification, rough sawn boards are heated in a low-oxygen chamber. The high temperatures remove moisture from the wood, resulting in boards that are lighter, more stable, more uniform in appearance, and significantly more durable.
